Charles E. Youkey
(July 1, 1946 - January 30, 2010)
Charles E. Youkey age 63 of Sedalia died on Saturday January 30, 2010 at his home. He was born on July 1, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of Norman L. and Lydia Morong Youkey. He was married on August 4, 1973 in Davenport, Iowa to Kathy Gile and she survives of the home. After graduating from the Iowa State University, Charlie entered active duty in the United States Air Force. He completed 89 combat missions as a Spectre pilot in Vietnam where he came face to face with the reality of God. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with five oak-leaf clusters. All three of his children followed in his footsteps by serving in the Air Force. His life was devoted to encouraging others to have a deeper walk with Jesus. When faced with difficulty, his faith only grew stronger. God rewarded his obedience by allowing him to live for five years with completely pain free cancer before passing peacefully at home with family. He will be greatly missed by friends and family. Besides his wife he is survived by; one daughter, Rachel Youkey of Orcutt, California, two sons; Mark Youkey and his wife Wilette of Germany, Matthew Youkey and his wife Christina of Columbia, Missouri, two brothers; John Youkey of Yuma Arizona, Fran Youkey of Woodland, Washington, one sister; Carol Solstad of Niland, California, three granddaughters, one grandson. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday February 4, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church Celebration Center at 1701 W. 32nd Street with Cliff McBride officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. There will be no visitation. The family suggest memorials to the First United Methodist Church.
